About the Artist
Helen Becker, ISEA, NCS

Helen Becker is a disciplined charcoal artist known for her realistic drawings. Her developmental journey using many art materials has led her to the rich beauty of deep black charcoal. She, also, is an experienced collagist who is especially fond of black and white renditions of her subject matter.
Born and raised in northeast Ohio, Helen’s artistic journey has been significantly shaped by her experiences across various terrains - from the red rocks of southern Utah, to the arid deserts of Nevada and the vibrant sunlight of New Mexico. Each locale has enriched her charcoal and collage creations.
Helen’s involvement in intensive studies at the renowned Ghost Ranch in Abiquiu, New Mexico, has deepened her artistic interests and honed her skills. She is a signature member of the International Society of Experimental Artists and recently received third place for her charcoal rendition of an interior studio. She also is a signature member of the National Collage Society where she continues to push the boundaries of this medium, winning several awards in numerous shows.
Beyond her personal achievements, Helen has participated in a number of community art initiatives. She was a founding board member of Gallery Moab in Moab, Utah, and has helped organize and conduct plein air and studio tour events. Helen Becker remains a dedicated and passionate artist, continually exploring her two mediums to inspire and captivate those who encounter her work.
Currently, Helen resides in New Mexico with her husband and Tabby kitty named Lockey. While the three travel around the U.S. and Canada in their camper van, she creates charcoal drawings and plans for future collages, never leaving her studio far behind.
